Rest + Wild is a small, family-run business creating beautifully designed cabins in the UK’s most breathtaking locations, built for true rest.
Why We ExistWhen I started the business, work had begun to take over. I’d been building another company where the pace felt unsustainable and the purpose no longer felt right. Work had begun to crowd out the parts of life that mattered most, and I could feel the cost of that.
By that point, Sarah and I had already spent years escaping to quiet places together. Walking, being outdoors, spending time somewhere remote. When life began to feel overwhelming, it was those moments that brought things back into focus.
The more I spoke to people, the clearer it became that this wasn’t unique to me. Many of us are living at a pace we didn’t choose, constantly connected and rarely given space to step away. It’s why burnout is such a common problem.
I wanted to create something that pushed back against that. A place that genuinely allowed people to rest. Not by adding activities or agendas, but by combining two things I felt were rarely brought together well - comfort and wilderness.
So I built a cabin. Just one, with a friend. That was the beginning of Rest + Wild.
The Rest is the experience inside. Spaces designed with the warmth, detail, and ease of a boutique hotel. A generous bed. Thoughtful interiors. A tiled bathroom. Armchairs to sink into at the end of the day. Outside, an outdoor copper bathtub, space to cook, and a fire to sit beside. Nothing excessive. Nothing distracting. Just comfort that makes it easy to switch off.
The Wild is everything beyond the door. All of our cabins are set in quiet, remote and beautiful parts of the UK countryside.
We’ve spent years searching for the right locations. More than 160 potential sites, explored one by one, and only three that offered what we were looking for: landscapes with real beauty, genuine privacy, and a level of quiet that’s hard to find. Places where you can feel the distance from everyday life as soon as you arrive.
Those qualities are rare, which is why we’ve chosen to grow slowly and only in places that feel truly special.
Today, Sarah and I run Rest + Wild together.
We moved from London to Devon with our three boys, and Sarah made the decision to leave her job so we could work on Rest + Wild together full-time.
Rest + Wild is deeply personal to us. We’ve always run the business ourselves, making the decisions together and putting care into every part of it - from the places we choose to how each stay feels. We’re proud of what we’re building.
As life continues to accelerate, we believe people need places that make it easier to slow down. To be somewhere quiet, surrounded by nature, with no distractions and no pressure to do anything at all.
